About The Position

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform difficult and complex food safety, outbreak response and enforcement coordination. Duties include investigating complaints, collecting samples, providing detailed technical reports for supervisory review and approval. Conducts non-routine food safety investigations in response to complaints, outbreaks, and contaminated food.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in Public or Environmental Health.
  • Requires professional certification as a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP).
  • Requires three (3) years of experience related to environmental health investigation and administration of environmental public health programs.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the statewide Food Program Enforcement and Response Coordinator.
  • Liaisons with professional and technical associations involved in promoting response and enforcement training.
  • Directs the evaluation of the statewide Local Health Protection Grant Food Protection Program.
  • Attends continuing education and professional development training.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
