About The Position

This position is for a Food Operations Supervisor at the Fluvanna Correctional Center. The primary responsibility involves overseeing and directing inmates in the daily tasks of preparing and serving meals for both the inmate population and the facility staff. A key aspect of the role is to train inmates on all established kitchen policies and procedures. The supervisor is also tasked with upholding stringent standards for food safety, sanitation, and overall food quality, while simultaneously ensuring that operations are conducted in a cost-efficient manner.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend policies and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and supervise the work of others effectively
• Knowledge of food safety
• Knowledge of sanitation standards
• Knowledge of cost-efficient practices
• Demonstrated ability to train and direct inmates in kitchen operations while maintaining compliance with established guidelines
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook

Nice To Haves

• Experience in institutional or correctional food service operations
• Knowledge of inventory control
• Knowledge of cost management
• Knowledge of menu planning
• Certifications in food safety or sanitation, such as ServSafe
• Strong organizational skills
