About The Position

Sodexo's Campus Segment is seeking an experienced Food Operations Manager 3 – Campus Dining to join our dining leadership team at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in beautiful Geneva, NY. This position is ideal for a hands-on, customer-service–driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility university and hospitality environment. The Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of a comprehensive and dynamic dining program that includes resident dining, multiple retail locations, catering services, and conferences & events. This leader will be instrumental in ensuring operational excellence, delivering an outstanding student dining experience, and supporting the continued growth of the HWS dining program.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in higher education dining or large-scale food service operations
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a high-volume environment
  • Strong commitment to hospitality, customer service, and student engagement
  • Solid financial acumen, including labor management and cost controls
  • Ability to implement Sodexo standards, procedures, and operational systems
  • Excellent communication, client relations, and organizational skills
  • Experience in training, coaching, and developing employees
  • A proactive, hands-on management style with the ability to problem-solve and adapt
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years management experience
  • 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across resident dining, retail, catering, and event services
  • Provide strong, visible leadership focused on service excellence and operational standards
  • Partner with the General Manager to support strategic initiatives and overall program success
  • Lead, train, and develop a diverse team of frontline staff and supervisors
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and build strong client relationships
  • Manage financial performance, including labor, food costs, inventory, and forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, HR requirements, and Sodexo policies
  • Support menu execution, programming, and hospitality initiatives campus-wide
  • Assist with conferences and special events to ensure seamless service delivery
