About The Position

The Food Box Coordinator assists with food pantry operations, deliveries, inventory management, and housing program referrals. This position serves as a key liaison between the Food Pantry and HUD Housing Program, ensuring clients receive timely food assistance and related support services. Maintains client records, communicates with the Food Pantry and Housing departments, schedules deliveries and creates delivery routes, and safely transports food throughout the Portland metropolitan area.

Requirements

  • Oregon Food Handler Card, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods multiple days per week.
  • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating delivery vehicles or coordinating delivery routes
  • Experience in customer service, food service, food distribution, social services, community outreach, or related
  • Experience working with vulnerable or houseless populations
  • Experience working within the Native American/ Alaska Native community

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with HUD Housing Program staff regarding client referrals, service requests, and delivery needs.
  • Deliver food boxes to homes, housing sites, and designated NARA NW locations.
  • Coordinate client delivery schedules and maintain accurate service records.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with Housing Program leadership and staff.
  • Develop efficient delivery routes using mapping applications and navigation tools.
  • Assist in fulfilling orders for clients and support food pantry operations.
  • Collect and update client data.
  • Perform all interactions in a personal and professional manner and be sensitive to pantry guests and their household needs.
  • Represent NARA NW professionally while interacting with clients, community partners, and service providers.
  • Work collaboratively, and maintain professional boundaries with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and treats everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
