About The Position

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is seeking a Food & Beverage Cashier to join their team. This role is responsible for greeting guests warmly, providing excellent service, processing payments accurately, and assisting team members to ensure overall guest satisfaction. The position involves operating a cash register, settling checks, and maintaining a clean work area. Depending on the specific location (e.g., EDR, Room Service, Barista), additional duties may include food preparation, order taking, coffee preparation, and up-selling. This is a part-time position with varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and six months of food service experience is preferred. Certification may be required within 30 days of hire. The job demands the ability to multitask, communicate effectively, maintain a neat appearance, and work in an environment with varying conditions.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • RASP certification is required (can be completed within 30 days of hire).
  • Able to attend to multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.

  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibrations, crowds, and air quality, including secondhand smoke.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon entry and provide excellent service.
  • Operate a cash register and properly settle guest checks.
  • Tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Receive payment by cash, credit cards, comps, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to guests.
  • Record tips from credit cards, automatic debits, and comp guests.
  • Keep the work area neat and clean.
  • Assist guests by providing information and resolving their complaints.
  • Balance the register at the end of the shift.
  • Build relationships with guests.
  • Demonstrate superior guest service skills.
  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude.
  • Ensure service recovery activities.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties.
  • Assist in clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables.
  • Provide a warm farewell and thank the guest for visiting.
  • Participate as a team member by volunteering and being involved with projects, committees, and task forces.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner.
  • Endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment.
  • For EDR Cashier: Able to work behind the serving line as a cook, as needed, controlling food production, sanitation, and storage.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Accept responsibility for cash register bankroll, all cash received, credit card charges, complimentary receipts, and charges to rooms. Maintain knowledge of current menu items and pricing. Responsible for taking guests' food and beverage orders, noting special requests, and processing orders. Assure timely delivery of comp requests. Responsible for keeping accurate log entries. Verify guest room numbers and estimated time of arrival. Dispatch and track service person availability. Notify management of any guest complaints. Assist in inventories of room service equipment.
  • For Barista Cashier: Highly skilled in coffee preparation, understanding coffee blends, quality, variety, roast degree, and latte art. Able to recite recipes and prepare all beverages. Ability to up-sell alcohol, chocolate, pastries, and retail.
