About The Position

Our Food and Pantry Warehouse Associate position is responsible for the proper receiving and warehouse maintenance of all food, beverages and non-consumables. The Warehouse Associate assists the Food Services Manager and Facilities Director for the overall condition and operation of the HomeFirst Kitchen Services inside and out.

Requirements

  • Entry Level position.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license.
  • Ability to be added onto the agency fleet insurance (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year in Materials/Warehouse, Driver, or Food production.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with delivery companies, drivers, and appliance repair services.
  • Perform light administrative duties.
  • Receive and inventory food, beverage product, and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly warehouse and outside storage area.
  • Assist in loading and unloading vehicles for meal delivery to other locations.
  • Plan placement and organization of food, supplies, and kitchen materials per Second Harvest Food Bank, United States Department of Agriculture, and Santa Clara County Environmental Department protocols and rules.
  • Store food and rotate stock in preparation for storage and/or distribution.
  • Ensure refrigerators and freezers maintain First In-First Out practices.
  • Work with Cooks in menu planning based on food inventories.
  • Monitor “Food Boxes” and ensure inventory for them.
  • Perform driver responsibilities to pick up food donations from various sources.
  • Rotate and learn different areas of the production.
  • Ensure proper food storage procedures are followed.
  • Wrap, label, date, stock, store, rotate, and check the temperature of products.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 to 60 pounds.
  • Work in both hot and cold environments and stand for long periods.
  • Provide a clean, safe, and efficient operation of the Food Pantry.
  • Manage documents and paperwork including food inventory, food log sheets, and invoices.
  • Perform inspection and cleaning of warehouse and kitchen equipment daily.
  • Report any equipment that needs service and repair.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly reports for the Food and Kitchen Manager.
  • Keep accurate records of the amount of food coming in and out each month.
  • Provide training to volunteers, ensuring safety, efficiency, and effective communication.
  • Provide timely communication to coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
  • Complete additional projects assigned by the supervisor and director.
  • Be a team player with a can-do attitude.
