About The Position

This is a full-time exempt position. The role of the FOB Trucking Merchandiser is to work closely with the FOB Trucking Manager, Grain Freight Manager, Origination team, trading managers and Operations colleagues to enhance and execute on regional trading opportunities. There is a strong emphasis on communication and teamwork in this position in an effort to provide cost competitive, reliable freight for the movement of grain in the Central & East Central regions.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Agriculture or related field of study.
  • 1+ years of experience in commodity trading and/or logistics.
  • Computer competence, especially use of email, Market Q, VAX, IBM, and internal web based applications.
  • Demonstrated capacity to excel in a fast paced office environment.
  • This position requires working at a desk both on a telephone and at a computer for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day activities of the Central & East Central Illinois Truck Fleet including dispatch and assisting in freight settlement.
  • Participate in Central & East Central Illinois region origination, trading, and logistics meetings, providing insight and discussing opportunities.
  • Identify and analyze market opportunities by maintaining close contact with other ADM divisions, external customers and trucking carriers.
  • Maintain a precise understanding of current freight rates, freight lanes and product flows in trade area.
  • Communicate market information both within the office and throughout the company as market opportunities present themselves.
