About The Position

HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is seeking a FNS Assistant to join its Food Services team. The role provides food services for patients and includes cleaning, dish room duties, and related cleaning tasks. The assistant prepares and portions foods and beverages according to established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets; stores food properly; follows food-handling practices; prepares sufficient food and supplies for service; and completes advance preparation for the next day's menu. The role also helps control costs by minimizing waste and using leftovers appropriately, and reports shortages, outdated items, or products received in unacceptable condition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some kitchen experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
• Prepare and portion food according to established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
• Cover, label, date, and store foods according to procedures.
• Follow proper food-handling techniques, including glove use, handwashing, and hair covering, and refrain from eating on the job.
• Prepare and set up sufficient food and supplies to meet service requirements; restock as needed.
• Check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the following day.
• Minimize waste and overproduction, and use leftovers appropriately.
• Promptly report food shortages, outdated items, and products received in unacceptable condition.
• Perform dish room duties and cleaning tasks.
