About The Position

The FM-IM Physician plays a critical role in providing comprehensive healthcare to patients at our rural health clinic in Athens, Texas. This position provides primary and preventive care to a diverse patient population, with a focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of both acute and chronic health conditions. The physician will care for patients across the lifespan and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote continuity of care, improve health outcomes, and address the unique healthcare needs of our rural and underserved community. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while practicing evidence-based medicine in a supportive community health setting.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience in both family medicine and internal medicine
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current or committed to acquire unrestricted Texas license (TSBME) and unrestricted DPS and DEA licenses

  • Experience working in a outpatient clinic setting with diverse patient populations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
  • Strong background in patient education and community health initiatives.
  • Multilingual abilities to effectively communicate with diverse patient groups.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive family medicine care including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Collaborate with nurses, midwives, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and reproductive health options.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in continuing medical education to stay current with best practices.
