About The Position

The Greta and Bill Flory Intern at the Art Institute of Chicago is an individual that is a passionate, dedicated young leader who wants to continue to collaborate with museum staff to reimagine the future of cultural institutions through a youth lens. This internship is part of the Art Institute's McMullan Art Leadership Initiative, which supports paid internships across the museum.

Requirements

  • Previously worked as a member of Art Institute’s Teen Council or ASM Summer Internship
  • A current or graduating student at a Chicagoland high school
  • A creative youth leader or organizer within their community
  • Committed to learning about and practicing social, healing, and environmental justice in museums
  • An interest in museums, art and/or community education
  • Strong communication skills, critical thinking and flexibility

Responsibilities

  • Support existing programming and develop administrative and supply management skills
  • Build research and communication skills toward the development of their own personal project
  • Shadow and assist museum educators and professionals
  • Mentor teens in the ASM Summer Internship Program
  • Develop and lead a youth-centered collaborative project
  • Document and promote RLC programs for social media
