About The Position

Archbold Memorial is seeking a Floor Technician to operate and maintain floor care equipment, perform various floor cleaning and maintenance tasks, and ensure high-traffic areas meet hospital presentation standards. This role requires adherence to safety guidelines, professional interaction with patients and staff, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • At least 19 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to operate heavy floor equipment safely.
  • Ability to lift 40-50lbs, push equipment, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Minimum of one to two years in a professional work environment required.
  • Authorized to work for any employer within the United States.
  • Must meet the healthcare facility's pre-assignment and medical requirements.
  • Must pass all onboarding screening processes.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adequately operate apps/technology on a tablet and learn new software that may have to be applied to the daily tasks for this role.
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with patients, guests, and team members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads, reach and stoop.
  • Role requires continuous physical engagement including walking and standing for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in floor cleaning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment including auto scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, extractors, and wet vacuums.
  • Perform stripping, sealing, and waxing of hard floors.
  • Burnish and polish floors to maintain high-gloss, slip-resistant surfaces.
  • Shampoo carpets and extract soils using commercial carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Identify floor damage, wear patterns, or safety hazards and report to leadership.
  • Ensure high-traffic areas meet hospital presentation standards.
  • Follow OSHA, CDC, and hospital safety guidelines.
  • Wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to infection prevention and workplace safety.
  • Interact professionally and compassionately with patients and hospital staff.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPPA compliance).
  • May have to perform other duties as required.
