About The Position

Interstate, a family-owned janitorial and maintenance company, is hiring a Floor Technician to work at a client site. The role performs floor maintenance in offices and other public areas, including hard-surface and carpet cleaning. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work independently, and able to work as part of a team. The position is part-time, scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at $16.00 per hour. Duties may be modified or amended and may include other related responsibilities.

Requirements

• Be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Be able to stand for prolonged periods.
• Be able to push, pull, twist, bend, and reach from floor to waist height and from waist to above head.
• Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hard-surface floors and carpets through dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting.
• Clean floors in offices, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.
• Apply floor stripper to remove old wax and refinish floors with new wax.
• Complete assigned project areas satisfactorily and on schedule.
• Use appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
• Properly and safely operate and maintain equipment.
• Observe safety precautions, including using wet-floor signs.
• Report safety hazards as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
