About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is an exciting, multi-media, multi-cultural, global media agency that carries out all United States civilian international broadcasting. Our media networks complement and reinforce one another in a shared mission vital to U.S. national interests: to inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy. Our staff of dedicated professionals serve as an example of a free and independent media, bringing news, information, and relevant discussions to a weekly audience of over 278 million people worldwide in over 60 languages via radio, television, Internet, and social media. Our media networks include the Voice of America and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti) and three grantee organizations: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free Asia. This is not an announcement for a federal job. This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News. All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate studio floor activities for live and recorded television, radio, and digital productions.
  • Act as the primary communication link between the control room, producers, directors, technical staff, and on-air talent.
  • Cue presenters, guests, and performers during broadcasts using verbal and non-verbal communication methods.
  • Ensure talent, equipment, props, and sets are prepared and positioned before and during production.
  • Assist with maintaining broadcast schedules and production timelines to ensure smooth program execution.
  • Monitor studio operations and address operational issues that may impact production quality or continuity.
  • Coordinate movement of guests, presenters, and production personnel within the studio environment.
  • Support setup and breakdown of studio sets, lighting, microphones, and other production equipment as needed.
  • Serves as floor director or teleprompter operator, as directed.
  • Works with supervisor to be familiar with the latest/new technology.
  • Operates computers.
  • Completes tasks accurately and independently prior to deadline, in according with editorial and production priorities.
  • Functions as effective member of a team.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
