Floating Registered Pharmacist
About The Position
Hy-Vee is seeking a licensed pharmacist to work across multiple retail pharmacy locations and support patient care and pharmacy operations. The pharmacist fills and verifies prescriptions, counsels patients, builds relationships with patients and healthcare providers, and assumes responsibility for the department when the Pharmacy Manager is absent. The role includes customer service, inventory and account support, employee training, community outreach, wellness programs, immunizations, and compliance with confidentiality, security, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements. This is a fast-paced role involving multiple tasks, including filling prescriptions, answering the telephone, and assisting customers. The pharmacist may occasionally encounter hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. The pharmacy handles and prepares hazardous drugs; personnel of reproductive capability are advised that exposure may cause acute and chronic effects. Training is provided, and following pharmacy policies and procedures is essential to minimizing risk. The anticipated hourly starting wage is $60.00 to $70.60, depending on experience. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- College degree in pharmacy and pharmacy licensure are required.
- Must maintain continuing education to keep the pharmacy license active.
- Six months to one year of similar or related work experience is required.
- Ability to administer immunizations is required.
- Apply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving abstract and concrete variables.
- Perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Compose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data.
- Counsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadership.
- Maintain discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient and financial information.
Nice To Haves
- Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
- Fill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients in accordance with OBRA '90 and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with controlled-substance inventory annually or as recommended.
- Support inventory control by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information.
- Assist with reconciliation and balancing of third-party accounts and monthly inventory.
- Assist the HBC manager with ordering and merchandising over-the-counter products.
- Coach, counsel, and train pharmacy employees, and participate in additional education and training.
- Visit schools, doctor's offices, and senior centers to market pharmacy services.
- Build growth and sales through counseling and wellness programs.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Assume responsibility for the department in the Pharmacy Manager's absence.
- Partner with other departments and staff to promote wellness and the pharmacy.
- Communicate with the Pharmacy Manager about procedural changes, issues, and corporate communications.
- Administer immunizations as certified.
- Maintain confidentiality of customers' private medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAA.
- Adhere to Hy-Vee policies, store guidelines, and statutes and regulations pertaining to registered pharmacists.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
