Floating Registered Pharmacist
About The Position
Hy-Vee is seeking a licensed pharmacist to provide patient care across multiple pharmacy locations. The Floating Registered Pharmacist fills and verifies prescriptions, counsels patients, supports pharmacy teams, builds relationships with patients and healthcare providers, and assumes responsibility for the department when the Pharmacy Manager is absent. The role involves working in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment and supporting customer service, health and wellness, and pharmacy operations. The pharmacist is responsible for maintaining an active pharmacy license through continuing education, administering immunizations as certified, protecting confidential customer information, and following applicable Hy-Vee policies and pharmacy laws and regulations. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- College degree and pharmacy licensure required.
- Must maintain continuing education to keep the pharmacy license active.
- Six months to one year of similar or related work experience required.
- Ability to administer immunizations required.
- Ability to apply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Ability to compose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data.
- Ability to counsel and advise patients and interact professionally with healthcare providers, team members, and store leadership.
- Ability to maintain discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient and financial information.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation.
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with pharmacy duties.

Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and make customer interactions positive.
- Fill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients in accordance with OBRA '90 and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with controlled-substance inventory, inventory control, ordering, stocking, invoice checks, and inventory data entry.
- Assist with reconciliation and balancing of third-party accounts and monthly inventory.
- Assist the HBC Manager with ordering and merchandising over-the-counter products.
- Coach, counsel, and train pharmacy employees and participate in additional education and training.
- Visit schools, doctors' offices, and senior centers to market pharmacy services.
- Build growth and sales through patient counseling and wellness programs.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Assume responsibility for the department when the Pharmacy Manager is absent.
- Partner with other departments and staff to promote wellness and pharmacy services.
- Communicate with the Pharmacy Manager about procedural changes, issues, and corporate communications.
- Administer immunizations as certified.
- Maintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAA.
- Adhere to Hy-Vee policies, store guidelines, and statutes and regulations applicable to registered pharmacists.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
