About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) is seeking a Floating Clinic Assistant (FCA) to support clinical and administrative functions across multiple health centers within an assigned region. This role is crucial for ensuring high-quality patient care and operational excellence. The FCA will provide direct patient care, administrative support, patient education, laboratory support, and procedural assistance, all in alignment with PPSNE's mission and values. Travel within the assigned region is a required and essential part of this position, necessitating reliable transportation and a willingness to work at any PPSNE health center as needed. Assignments will vary based on organizational needs such as staffing, patient volume, vacancies, leaves of absence, and training. The FCA will float to health centers to provide in-clinic patient care, cover telehealth sessions, manage EHR Inbaskets, and assist the Care Coordination Team. The specific balance of these duties will depend on organizational demands. This position is based in Danbury, CT, and will also cover health centers in Stamford, Bridgeport, and Waterbury.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and register patients.
  • Collect insurance, fee, and demographic information.
  • Take vital signs, obtain patient history, perform triage, and document information in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Provide patient education regarding birth control options, STI testing and treatment, HIV/AIDS prevention, pregnancy options, and healthy relationships.
  • Perform pregnancy tests and urinalysis.
  • Prepare and package specimens for laboratory transport.
  • Assist clinicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Support abortion services through patient education, procedure assistance, and recovery room support.
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Schedule appointments and answer patient calls.
  • Manage patient records and documentation.
  • Handle cash receipts and daily deposits.
  • Support revenue cycle and productivity goals.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of medical and educational supplies.
  • Travel regularly to assigned health centers.
  • Adapt to different teams, workflows, and patient volumes.
  • Cover staffing shortages, leaves, vacancies, and special projects.
  • Provide telehealth and care coordination support when needed.
