Float Phlebotomist - Full Time

About The Position

Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients and travels between Toledo Clinic Laboratories as needed. The position works under the supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Manager. The Float Phlebotomist may drive to satellite locations and must understand the work required at each location, while remaining available for other drawing opportunities. The role also includes processing specimens, including centrifuge use and correct processing of STAT specimens.

Requirements

One to two years of phlebotomist experience.
Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school.
Consistently arrive in appropriate, professional attire.
Complete tasks within established time frames.
Adhere to Clinic policies and procedures.
Seek appropriate tasks after completing primary tasks and assist coworkers as needed.
Demonstrate adaptability to expanded roles.
Be flexible and able to adjust to a constantly changing work environment.
Manage multiple ongoing projects and prioritize accordingly.
Be able to travel to various locations.

Responsibilities

Arrive at work on time and adhere to the regular work schedule.
Ask for and record pertinent information, including how long a patient has been fasting and, for drug-level testing, the time of the patient's last dosage.
Obtain the proper specimen for the tests ordered and label specimens correctly.
Instruct patients on specimen collection.
Register patients.
Scan ABN, billing, and HIPPA documentation.
Follow HIPPA policies and laboratory, Clinic, and OSHA safety standards.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Travel to satellite locations and be available for other drawing opportunities.
Know the work required at each satellite location and ensure it is completed.
Process specimens correctly, including using a centrifuge and correctly processing STAT specimens.
Perform other duties as assigned.
