About The Position

The Float Medical Assistant is an onsite Patient Specialist who helps prepare patients before they see the doctor. The role supports efficient clinical operations by completing patient intake and other work so doctors can focus on medical decision-making. The position reports to the Center Administrator. Responsibilities include rooming patients and performing intake beyond standard vital signs, such as verifying medications and allergies, documenting patient history, and conducting validated screenings when needed. The Medical Assistant manages the electronic medical record (EMR) inbox according to routing rules, handling patient messages, lab results, and medication-adherence follow-ups with pharmacies, with a goal of same-day attention for all tasks. The role also educates patients and confirms understanding by asking them to repeat instructions in their own words using the loop-back method. The role requires patient-centered communication, accurate documentation, practical patient-care skills, and the ability to recognize risks and workflow needs in a fast-paced clinical environment. The employee must work assigned clinic hours. The position is eligible for a performance-based bonus incentive plan.
