About The Position

Assists the manager and management team in the daily operations. Daily duties will include management functions, opening/closing store, and overseeing production/retail operations. Ensures all staff follows policies and procedures. Must be able to support multiple retail and/or bookstore locations as needed. Will assist in overseeing the operations of those stores. Communicates weekly to the supported retail store’s District Manager, or bookstore’s Senior Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or Associate’s Degree.
  • Two to five years related experience.
  • Email, internet use, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have a CA Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s requirements.
  • Ability to operate electronic cash register.
  • Ability to work with simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand sales reports.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of college/technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures excellent customer service is provided to customers and donors.
  • Provides product that meets company pricing and quality standards.
  • Flexible to work various locations, shifts and schedule changes to meet retail/bookstore needs.
  • Assumes all daily responsibilities in the absence of store management.
  • Motivates, trains, coaches, engages and develops staff in a positive work environment to increase productivity and achieve departmental goals.
  • In absence of a store manager, utilizes performance management tools such as annual evaluations and goal setting conversations to develop staff.
  • Responsible for daily store operations, completing required reports, and achieving revenue of store.
  • Utilize tools provided and monitors labor, store expenses, employee morale, product levels, quality and pricing as well as customer service.
  • Utilize critical thinking and strategic vision to ensure revenue goals are met.
  • Responsible for maintaining store in a safe, clean and well merchandised manner per company standards, policies and procedures and any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Assists in maintaining organizational initiatives such as department WIGS (4DX) and Donor Optimization goals and strategies.
  • In partnership with management, ensures employment relationship issues are resolved according to organization’s best practices, policies and procedures, organizational culture, core values and in accordance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
