About The Position
MEC is more than a store; it's a hub for the outdoor community, a leader in sustainability, and a place where individuals can be themselves. Members visit MEC for gear and advice on a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, climbing, cycling, watersports, snowsports, and travel. As a Flexible Store Advisor, you will assist members in planning their adventures, from dream trips to weekend getaways, catering to both first-timers and experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The role emphasizes creating a positive experience for members and fostering a collaborative team environment, with staff frequently citing the people as their favorite aspect of working at MEC.
Requirements
- Passion for the outdoors.
- Product knowledge in camping, cycling, packs, or other outdoor activities.
- A "can do" attitude and willingness to learn new things.

- Ability to lift 50 lb. and walk 10,000 steps per day.
- Open availability to work Saturdays or Sundays.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional member service by matching people with gear that suits their needs.
- Share real-world experience about products and offer industry-leading advice on gear.
- Engage members by asking open-ended questions to understand their needs.
- Assist with visual merchandising and other store operational tasks.
- Help organize inventory and ensure members receive the products they need.
- Promote MEC events and services.
- Learn about new products, technology, and features, including sustainability aspects.
- Contribute to the goal of helping more people in Canada get active outside.
