About The Position
MEC is more than a store; it's a hub for the outdoor community, a leader in sustainability, and a place where individuals can be themselves. Members visit MEC for gear and advice on a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, climbing, cycling, watersports, snowsports, and travel. As a Flexible Store Advisor, you will assist members in planning their adventures, from dream trips to weekend getaways, catering to both first-timers and experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The role emphasizes creating a positive experience for members and fostering a collaborative team environment, with staff frequently citing the people as their favorite aspect of working at MEC.
Requirements
- Ability to work with a diverse, inclusive, hands-on, collaborative team.
- Passion for the outdoors.
- Desire to connect people with quality products to encourage active outdoor lives.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Skills include personal integrity and awareness, customer focus, initiative, teamwork, and the ability to develop oneself and others.

- Ability to lift 50 lb. and walk 10,000 steps per day.
- Willingness to learn about new products and gear; training will be provided.
Nice To Haves
- Product knowledge in camping, cycling, packs, or other outdoor activities.
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional member service by matching individuals with suitable gear.
- Share real-world experience and product knowledge with members.
- Assist with visual merchandising and support other team members.
- Organize inventory and ensure members receive the products they need.
- Promote MEC events and services.
- Learn about new products, technology, and sustainability features.
- Encourage people to engage in outdoor activities.
