About The Position

Teachers will co-plan the curriculum with CSEO post-doctoral fellow scientists and maintain continuity within the current ISR curriculum implemented during the academic year. Teachers will execute the developed curriculum as co-planned with the CSEO. This role involves submitting lesson plans and materials lists, teaching enrolled students, collaborating with CSEO post-doctoral fellows on classroom logistics and student support, and understanding and implementing policies related to the protection of minors. Teachers are responsible for ensuring continuous student supervision and adhering to program location rules. Additionally, they will provide student assessments, grades, and feedback, culminating in end-of-program grades for MNPS. Adherence to institutional policies on confidentiality and successful completion of online training for working with minors are also required.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Be certified to teach secondary STEM classes in the State of Tennessee.
  • Have content expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the group of students enrolled in class for the duration of the session.
  • Collaborate with CSEO post-doctoral fellows to support classroom logistics, support for students, and group dynamics.
  • Understand and implement policies and procedures related to protection of minors.
  • Ensure effective student supervision is maintained at all times and according to program location rules.
  • Provide student assessments, grades based on those assessments, and feedback on the assessments throughout the program, culminating in end-of-program grades to be sent to MNPS.
  • Adhere to institutional policies related to confidentiality.
  • Successfully undergo online training provided by VU for working with minors.
