About The Position

Vanderbilt University is seeking Flex-SHIRE Teachers to join their team. This role involves co-planning and executing a curriculum with CSEO post-doctoral fellow scientists, maintaining continuity with the current ISR curriculum. Teachers will be responsible for submitting lesson plans, teaching enrolled students, collaborating on classroom logistics and student support, and understanding policies related to the protection of minors. Additionally, responsibilities include providing student assessments and feedback, adhering to confidentiality policies, and completing online training for working with minors.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Be certified to teach secondary STEM classes in the State of Tennessee.
• Have content expertise.

Responsibilities

• Co-plan the curriculum with CSEO post-doctoral fellow scientists and maintain continuity within the current ISR curriculum.
• Execute the developed curriculum as co-planned with the CSEO.
• Submit lesson plans and materials lists based on communicated deadlines.
• Teach the group of students enrolled in class for the duration of the session.
• Collaborate with CSEO post-doctoral fellows to support classroom logistics, support for students, and group dynamics.
• Understand and implement policies and procedures related to protection of minors, ensuring effective student supervision at all times.
• Provide student assessments, grades based on those assessments, and feedback on the assessments throughout the program, culminating in end-of-program grades to be sent to MNPS.
• Adhere to institutional policies related to confidentiality.
• Successfully undergo online training provided by VU for working with minors.
