About The Position

Vanderbilt University is seeking Flex-SHIRE Teachers to co-plan and execute a curriculum with CSEO post-doctoral fellow scientists. This role involves teaching students enrolled in the class for the duration of the session, collaborating on classroom logistics and student support, and adhering to institutional policies. The position requires understanding and implementing policies related to the protection of minors, including completing online training and ensuring continuous student supervision. Teachers will also be responsible for student assessments, grades, and feedback, and must maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified to teach secondary STEM classes in the State of Tennessee
  • Content expertise
  • Completion of online training provided by VU for working with minors
  • Understanding and implementation of policies and procedures related to protection of minors

  • Current MNPS teachers working with the Interdisciplinary Science and Research (ISR) program

Responsibilities

  • Co-plan the curriculum with CSEO post-doctoral fellow scientists and maintain continuity within the current ISR curriculum.
  • Execute the developed curriculum as co-planned with the CSEO.
  • Submit lesson plans and materials lists based on communicated deadlines.
  • Teach the group of students enrolled in class for the duration of the session.
  • Collaborate with CSEO post-doctoral fellows to support classroom logistics, student support, and group dynamics.
  • Understand and implement policies and procedures related to protection of minors, including completing online training and ensuring effective student supervision.
  • Provide student assessments, grades based on those assessments, and feedback on the assessments throughout the program, culminating in end-of-program grades.
  • Adhere to institutional policies related to confidentiality.
