Baptist Health is recognized as a top place to work in health care and has been the most preferred healthcare provider in Northeast Florida for over 30 years. As Jacksonville's only locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system, Baptist Health offers a comprehensive range of preventive and specialty care services across more than 200 locations and six hospitals. Key centers of excellence include Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital. This role involves maintaining a safe and calm environment for patients through continuous observation, reporting any changes to the nurse, and providing one-to-one monitoring. Responsibilities include direct patient care, patient engagement, immediate intervention for safety, de-escalation of agitation or aggressive behavior, patient escort, and restraint securement if necessary. The sitter will also participate in patient reorientation and diversional care by providing companionship, such as engaging in conversation or reading to the patient. They will remain with their assigned patient for the entire shift and accompany them off the unit for tests and procedures. A Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) is required within 90 days of hire.
