About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Fleet Support Specialist to support the Nosis and STRMS Programs. This role offers an opportunity to advance cutting-edge technology that supports the knowledge, training, qualification, and proficiency of national defense/intelligence services and systems. The specialist will work closely with fleet and government customers to develop solutions for high-stakes national security missions. This is an internship program designed for transitioning service members and military spouses, offering job-shadowing and learning opportunities from experienced leaders to develop best-in-class skills on mission-critical work. Participants will gain valuable civilian experience through specific industry training during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The program aims to prepare participants for their transition to civilian life and meet GDMS's mission of 'providing smarter mission critical systems and products to defense, civil government, intelligence and cybersecurity customers'. The internship includes professional development, networking with leadership, and training focused on GDMS leadership expectations, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product/service overview, and core job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Meets SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29.
  • Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields.
  • Proficient understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Cloud Computing, Support, or Administration Experience
  • Microsoft Windows Server and/or Linux Server Administration experience.
  • Oracle Database operation and maintenance.
  • Previous CANES or PPLAN Network administrator experience.
  • Must be able to complete all requirements for DoD 8570 Certification within 6 months.
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills as well as practical problem-solving and decision making-skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with minimal supervision, and be able to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • SkillBridge Eligibility: Has served at least 180 days on active duty, Is within 12 months of separation or retirement, Will receive an honorable discharge, Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS, Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months, Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

  • Experience with VBScript, JavaScript, Windows Scripting, WBEM, .NET, JBOSS.
  • Experience with CANES or PPLAN Environments
  • Use, administration, and maintenance of Nosis or STRMS Software Suites

Responsibilities

  • Provide lab, onboard, and distance support and services direct to fleet customers and field support teams with cloud technologies.
  • Perform research, data transfers, troubleshooting, installations, and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, fielding, troubleshooting, and repairing of Nosis and Nosis Cloud software, devices, systems, and third-party applications.
  • Perform technical activities that impact the proposal, system level design, detail design, and manufacture of advanced software and cloud services systems.
  • Job-shadow and learn from experienced leaders and other smart, motivated people.
  • Develop best-in-class skills on mission-critical work.
  • Load and update software applications as required.
  • Operate in a shipboard Information Technology Customer support capacity.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
