About The Position

This role is responsible for communicating with and listening to drivers daily regarding their work schedule, deliveries, customer information, strategic initiatives, policy changes, safety, load quality, and customer service. The Fleet Supervisor II will promote safety, ensure a safe work environment, and encourage safe employee work and driving habits. This position involves transportation planning and execution of outbound/inbound shipments using standard processes and logistics software/technology, while managing the cost-effective routing of shipments by ensuring accuracy within the TMS. A key aspect of this role is developing a high-performance work team with high levels of employee engagement, morale, satisfaction, and performance, which includes providing coaching and performance communication for development. The supervisor will also communicate with their manager, other supervisors, and appropriate personnel regarding facility, equipment, safety, environmental issues, work schedules, company policies, and performance improvement plans. They will support employees in understanding company policies and practices and create and maintain a respectful work environment by listening, seeking facts, managing reactions, and addressing unacceptable behavior. Other duties may be assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in a logistics operation or supervising a fleet of drivers
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate people
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and working knowledge of a work management system (WMS)
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of transportation planning, commercial motor vehicle driver and equipment management
  • Ability to travel

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred

  • Manage the cost-effective routing of inbound/outbound shipments by ensuring parameters and strategies within TMS are accurate.
  • Develop a high-performance work team with high levels of employee engagement, morale, satisfaction, and performance.
  • Provide coaching and performance communication to support development.
  • Communicate with your immediate manager, other supervisors, and appropriate personnel regarding facility, equipment, safety, environmental, work schedules, company policies and practices, performance improvement plans, etc.
  • Support employees in understanding company policies and practices.
  • Create and maintain a respectful work environment by listening, seeking facts to support decisions, managing one’s own reactions, and addressing unacceptable behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
