About The Position

At Active Day, the Fleet Safety and Compliance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of the company's drivers. This position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing fleet operations by conducting thorough root-cause analysis and investigations of various transportation systems and data. The manager identifies concerns and recommends specific training needs for drivers at centers across the company, ensuring they receive comprehensive training on all safety protocols and driving requirements. The ultimate goal is to maintain a safe and compliant fleet operation.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Proven experience in fleet safety and compliance management, preferably in the transportation industry
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Strong understanding of fleet management systems, such as Geotab, Fleetio and camera systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to train, mentor and supervise others
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Proficient in excel, word, PowerPoint, outlook, Teams, and other operating systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Medicaid transportation knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with all DOT and FMCSA and Medicaid regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) rules, drug and alcohol testing, and vehicle maintenance standards.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, including technology, risk management, and other service providers.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for drivers, focusing on defensive driving, accident prevention, passenger handling, and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize fleet management systems like Geotab, Surfside camara or Fleetio to analyze data, identify trends, and generate reports to improve safety performance.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Report, monitor, and track all auto related claims.
  • Work with carrier and team to resolve and improve loss experience.
  • Stay informed about changes in DOT, FMCSA, and Medicaid regulations and ensure timely implementation of updates.
