About The Position

The Fleet Project Manager is the operational backbone of Dent Wizard’s Fleet Department, responsible for turning fleet strategy into repeatable, well-documented execution. This role sits at the intersection of procurement, operations, and field engagement — managing the full lifecycle of fleet initiatives from vehicle acquisition through upfit design and field delivery. You’ll work closely with the Fleet Manager, fleet vendors, upfit partners, and field leadership to build the processes and project plans that keep a national mobile workforce moving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant fleet management, operations program management, or related experience.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to drive results through cross-functional teams and present at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Outstanding project management skills including follow-up on action points and consistently monitoring results.
  • Proficient with MS Office (including Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Experience in PM software (e.g. Microsoft Project).

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with upfitters, equipment vendors, or specialty vehicle builds is a significant plus.
  • Experience with fleet management platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development of project plans for fleet initiatives, including vehicle replacement waves, new model introductions, upfit redesigns, and fleet transitions.
  • Define scope, timelines, milestones, owners, and success metrics for each initiative.
  • Track progress across workstreams and proactively surface blockers, risks, and dependencies to fleet leadership.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while keeping stakeholders aligned and informed.
  • Present project updates and status to various stakeholders including executive leadership.
  • Use metrics to identify issues, make decisions, and track improvements.
  • Design and document end-to-end processes for recurring fleet operations — including replacement vehicle delivery, technician transitions, upfit scheduling, and vehicle disposal.
  • Build clear, field-friendly SOPs and communication materials that make complex processes easy for field teams to follow.
  • Identify gaps in current workflows and propose improvements that reduce cycle time, errors, and cost.
  • Develop and document business requirements, including possible system applications.
  • Maintain fleet process documentation as a living library that evolves with the program.
  • Work with field on beginning and end of life of vehicles, including delivery planning.
  • Prepare vehicles for delivery as needed and assist in decommissioning prior to sale.
  • Act as the internal project lead for upfit design initiatives, coordinating requirements-gathering across field technicians, Technician Advisory Board, Field Operations Leadership, and Products experts.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop the design and specifications of trucks and vans, including equipment placement, shelving configurations, and installed systems.
  • Translate field and operational requirements into structured design briefs for external upfitters.
  • Manage iterative review cycles with upfit vendors, ensuring designs meet functional, safety, and cost requirements before production.
  • Assist in evaluating fleet upfitters and holding them accountable.
  • Maintain upfit specifications and revision history so build standards are clearly documented and consistently applied.
  • Manage critical supplier relationships within the fleet business.
  • Coordinate vehicle delivery logistics from upfitter to field, working with Operations Managers and Divisional Executive Assistants to schedule assignments, transitions, and training handoffs.
  • Serve as the primary fleet contact for field-facing delivery questions, ensuring technicians and managers have what they need to take delivery smoothly.
  • Track delivery pipeline status and communicate proactively when timelines shift.
  • Manage the fleet rehabilitation process from identifying vehicles for upfit, determining schedule and upfitter, and working to get vehicles where they belong.
  • Provide field support through technical guides and hands-on presence as required (25–50% travel).
  • Field support — answering questions, providing guidance for maintenance programs, procedures for switching out components, and aiding in person as required.
  • Maintain working relationships with fleet procurement vendors, upfitters, and leasing providers.
  • Coordinate vendor deliverables, hold partners accountable to timelines, and escalate issues when commitments aren’t met.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with cross-functional and cross-operating company teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create and implement solutions that drive organizational success.
  • Support the Director of Supply Chain in vendor reviews and performance conversations.
