About The Position

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overall shop and fleet management. The position requires excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills to engage diesel technicians and automotive Technicians, maintain good morale among the team, and keep construction equipment in service. Requires expert technical skills and the ability to maintain the fleet of construction equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a managerial role involving fleet management, logistics, or a similar environment; along with experience working in construction.
  • Good leadership and analytic qualities.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities and organizational skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and good at problem-solving.
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Technical knowledge of the construction industry.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Transportation rules and regulation to include an understanding of FMCSA.
  • Knowledgeable in computer applications like GPS and fleet truck management.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Quality control of fleet tools and supplies, and timely repairs on fleet vehicles.
  • Making decisions regarding vehicle acquisition as well as regular analysis of fleet expense and performance reports.
  • Familiarity with fleet management software and GPS to enhance company tracking and vehicle performance.
  • Setting strategic and operational goals for the fleet.
  • Performing and overseeing the proper maintenance and work readiness of all vehicles & Equipment.
  • Supervising the organization of the fleet.
  • Making decisions regarding vehicle acquisition based on need and demand.
  • Selling or discarding appropriately used vehicles.
  • Creating workplace SOPs that drive innovation for the fleet.
  • Being proactive with shop repairs and fleet issues.
  • Preparing reports that identify activities completed or issues encountered.
  • Driving the hiring and managing of qualified mechanics.
  • Successfully controlling inventory to within company allowed variance.
