About The Position

The full-time Fleet Mechanic is to perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel and gas-powered vehicles and equipment. This position requires travel to job sites and vendor locations, and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. The ideal candidate is and experienced, safety-conscious, mechanically skilled, and capable of working independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class A CDL license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle and criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Must complete and pass a DOT physical
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel and gas engines and associated systems.
  • Skilled with diagnostic software and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and repair guides.
  • Capable of identifying safety issues and mechanical defects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Familiarity with vehicle safety and maintenance compliance standards.
  • Willingness to travel for work, including overnight stays
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Reliable and consistent attendance

  • Previous experience as a diesel and gas mechanic

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic tests on diesel and gas engines to identify mechanical problems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication services.
  • Repair and replace engine components such as fuel, exhaust, intake, and electrical systems.
  • Inspect and maintain hydraulic systems, brakes, transmissions, and cooling systems.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools for accurate troubleshooting and repair tracking.
  • Document maintenance and repairs in the Fleet Management Information System.
  • Conduct post-repair road tests to ensure operational safety and compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Travel to job sites for on-site repairs and emergency maintenance support.
  • Monitor inventory and assist in ordering parts and materials.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Supervisor to manage priorities and ensure timely vehicle readiness.
