Fleet Manager - Knoxville TN

Bird•Tennessee, United States, TN

About The Position

Bird is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the local fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes in Knoxville, ensuring vehicles are charged, safe, maintained, and positioned to meet community transportation needs. This is an independent contractor, revenue-share opportunity rather than an employee role. Earnings are tied to results, with an example fleet volume of approximately 125 vehicles daily and the opportunity to earn more based on speed and performance. The contractor is responsible for providing their own tools, equipment, and associated work expenses, and manages their own schedule and workload to meet market needs. The opportunity may suit a solo operator with one van or a fleet owner deploying multiple drivers. Access to a garage, warehouse, or commercial facility with electricity is highly preferred to support overnight charging.

Requirements

  • Own or have consistent access to at least one large vehicle, such as a van or truck, suitable for transporting multiple scooters or bikes.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License or applicable commercial license and a clean driving record for all operating drivers.
  • Be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and stoop, bend, walk, and stand for long periods while handling heavy equipment.
  • Have a flexible schedule and be willing to operate regularly on weekends.
  • Be comfortable learning mobile tools to locate and manage the fleet.
  • Have strong knowledge of Knoxville's local geography.
  • Provide your own tools, equipment, and associated expenses required to complete the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Access to a garage, warehouse, or commercial facility with electricity, preferably to enable overnight charging.
  • Fleet owners with multiple vehicles and drivers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Use a vehicle or fleet to collect, deploy, relocate, and retrieve e-scooters and e-bikes across Knoxville daily.
  • Perform timely repairs and general maintenance on e-scooters and e-bikes to uphold brand standards and rider safety.
  • Manage the end-to-end operation of the assigned portfolio and ensure vehicles are available in high-demand areas.
  • Solve problems in real time, prioritize tasks, and navigate local geography efficiently.
