About The Position

Hill Brothers Transportation is seeking a Fleet Manager to serve as the primary supervisor and communication link between our company and assigned drivers. This role is essential to our success, combining relationship management, operational coordination, and performance optimization to maximize driver satisfaction, customer service, and fleet efficiency. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR five years' experience in dispatch/fleet management
  • Proficient with Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Minimum 35 WPM typing
  • Understanding of trucking operations and Hours of Service regulations
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong emotional intelligence to build trust and maintain driver relationships
  • Service-oriented mindset when working with drivers and coworkers
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful conversations and situations
  • Relationship-building skills that support driver retention
  • Excellent professional oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and supervisor for assigned drivers
  • Build trust-based relationships through emotional intelligence and service-oriented approach
  • Communicate load information, payroll details, home time requests, and company updates
  • Provide performance counseling and communicate KPI expectations and results
  • Ensure drivers understand all customer requirements and company expectations for each load
  • Document all driver interactions in TMW system for accurate record-keeping
  • Manage assigned fleet of tractors and drivers to achieve optimum performance across all metrics
  • Monitor and drive weekly KPI goals including: Line haul revenue per truck and miles per truck, Deadhead percentage and fuel efficiency (MPG), On-time service percentage and idle percentage, Safety compliance and Hours of Service adherence, Missing paperwork and overdue preventive maintenance, Driver turnover and retention
  • Run and analyze operational reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct daily fleet accounting, reviewing the board multiple times to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
  • Coordinate with Load Planners daily to maximize driver productivity
  • Schedule drivers for maintenance, home time, company events, and safety training
  • Ensure accurate ETA/PTA information for effective capacity planning
  • Monitor on-time pickup and delivery performance across your fleet
  • Communicate delays and service issues promptly to Customer Service Representatives
  • Manage fuel compliance (Loves Truck Stops) and minimize out-of-route miles
  • Complete thorough hand-offs to night dispatch
  • Research and resolve driver concerns, business problems, and clarification needs
  • Make balanced decisions that benefit drivers, customers, and the company
  • Think proactively to prevent service failures and scheduling conflicts
  • Conduct cost control activities including accessorial audits
  • Collaborate across departments to address driver and operational needs
  • Remain calm and effective during stressful situations
