Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in fleet operations, equipment management, or heavy equipment service within construction, energy, or similar industries.
  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet operations across multiple locations or large-scale projects.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day operational demands.
  • Extensive knowledge of fleet management principles, maintenance practices, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Experience with both on-road and off-road heavy equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions.
  • Proficiency with fleet management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.); experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to support multiple project locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all fleet operations supporting multiple renewable energy project sites.
  • Develop and execute fleet strategies that align with organizational and operational goals.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to forecast fleet needs and ensure timely availability of equipment.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Analyze fleet utilization, performance, and total cost of ownership to drive decisions on replacement, redeployment, or divestiture.
  • Establish and enforce standardized processes for fleet acquisition and disposal.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and asset reliability.
  • Oversee internal and third-party maintenance providers, including field and shop repair operations.
  • Ensure consistency in maintenance practices across all project locations.
  • Ensure fleet management systems are accurate, timely, and fully utilized for reporting and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize fleet utilization, reduce downtime, and control costs.
  • Monitor and manage KPIs such as equipment availability, repair turnaround time, and maintenance spend.
  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of fleet supervisors, mechanics, and technicians across multiple sites.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, safety, and performance within the fleet organization.
  • Provide coaching, training, and career development opportunities for team members.
  • Develop and manage fleet budgets, including maintenance, capital expenditures, and operating costs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service levels and operational readiness.
  • Optimize vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, environmental regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards across all fleet operations and maintenance activities.
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, Safety, and Finance teams to support project execution and business objectives.
  • Serve as the primary fleet liaison for Renewable Energy leadership.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required to support the Fleet Department and Renewable Energy segment.
