We are seeking an experienced and organized Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, compliance, and performance of our company vehicle fleet. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring all vehicles and equipment are operating safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while supporting field operations and project schedules. This role operates in a combination of office, shop, and field environments and may require occasional travel to job sites or service locations. The ideal candidate must also be able to respond to urgent fleet or equipment issues outside of normal business hours when necessary. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage vehicle maintenance programs, fuel usage, and fleet tracking systems.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of fleet management, transportation, or equipment management experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and fleet operations
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and transportation compliance regulations
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience with fleet management software and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing construction, service, or commercial fleets
  • Mechanical knowledge of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Budgeting and cost-control experience
  • Vendor and contract management experience
  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily fleet operations for company vehicles and equipment
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and service schedules
  • Monitor fleet performance, utilization, fuel usage, and operational costs
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, registrations, inspections, and licensing
  • Oversee vendor relationships, repair facilities, and equipment suppliers
  • Track and manage fleet inventory, equipment assignments, and asset lifecycle planning
  • Investigate vehicle incidents, accidents, and equipment issues
  • Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures, and operational improvements
  • Support budgeting and cost management for fleet operations
  • Coordinate with operations and field teams to ensure equipment availability
  • Assist with purchasing, leasing, and disposal of vehicles and equipment
  • Conducting and coordinating training for the fleet
  • Monitor GPS and fleet management systems
  • Conduct periodic vehicle and equipment audits
