About The Position

HTM Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Manager / Lead Mechanic to lead and oversee all maintenance personnel and daily shop operations. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality control, ensuring cost efficiency, and improving operational performance through data analytics and tracking. The position involves evaluating company assets, managing work orders, training and supervising maintenance team members, and assisting with repairs when needed. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment while enforcing safety standards and operational procedures. The Fleet Manager will also be responsible for communicating effectively with various departments, assisting with disciplinary actions, and updating company procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Lead Gas & Diesel Mechanic or Senior Mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines and all related components, as well as hydraulic, brake, and transmission systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify and solve complex problems
  • Experienced in supervising other mechanics
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to operate all types of vehicles and equipment
  • Must possess own tools
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a trade school or vocational program in diesel and gasoline engine repair or a related field is a plus
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, and electronic systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all maintenance personnel and daily shop operations
  • Maintain high standards of quality control across all maintenance work performed
  • Ensure cost efficiency through proper planning, tracking, and resource management
  • Monitor data analytics, cost coding, and time tracking to improve operational performance
  • Evaluate company assets and provide recommendations on repairs, purchases, rentals, or sales
  • Assign and manage open work orders to ensure timely completion
  • Train, mentor, and supervise maintenance team members
  • Diagnose and assist with equipment and mechanical repairs when needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Enforce company safety standards and operational procedures
  • Secure and lock up the shop daily
  • Communicate effectively with leadership teams, field staff, and operations departments
  • Assist with disciplinary actions and accountability procedures when necessary
  • Update company procedures and training materials using Sweet Process, including employee quizzes and documentation
