About The Position

The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining all company DIESEL SEMI TRUCKS & TRAILERS. This role involves performing routine maintenance, repairing trailers, and completing truck repairs (excluding complete engine overhauls). The position requires adherence to a culture of safety, maintaining cleanliness, and protecting company assets. Regular attendance and the ability to perform physical requirements are essential.

Requirements

  • Experience working on Semi Trucks & Trailers
  • Working Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems
  • Driver’s License Required: Must have clean driving record with at least a Class B; Class A would be beneficial but not necessary.
  • Job-Specific KSA’s: Tire & Automotive Industry – Essential industry information including tire brands, designs, treads; proper safety and functional procedures, and relevant customer markets.
  • Mastery of all major automotive emissions, engine management, and electrical systems
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of automotive vehicles and tools, including their repair, and maintenance.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A driver's license would be beneficial but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain all company DIESEL SEMI TRUCKS & TRAILERS.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Repair and maintain company trailers.
  • Complete all truck repairs less than complete engine overhauls.
  • Embrace Purcell’s culture of safety and perform all jobs in a safe manner.
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of maintenance shed.
  • Protect company assets.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with assigned schedule.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements as listed in job description.
  • Other essential and non-essential duties, as assigned by management.
