About The Position
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of company-owned trailers, with secondary support for truck maintenance. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and compliance of fleet equipment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in trailer, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong knowledge of trailer systems (brakes, suspension, electrical)
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
- Must have own tools (as applicable)
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong attention to safety and detail
Nice To Haves
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Experience with DOT/FHWA inspections preferred
- CDL a plus, if applicable
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet trailers (primary focus) and Class 8 diesel trucks
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on trailers and fleet equipment
- Perform brake, suspension, lighting, and structural repairs on trailers
- Conduct FHWA/DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
- Troubleshoot failures and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime
- Perform tire changes and general service as needed
- Complete welding and fabrication work for trailer repairs and modifications
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection documentation
- Follow company safety standards and ensure all work is performed safely
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
