About The Position

The driver will safely and efficiently drive a commercial truck or van for extended hours to pick up and deliver freight locally to the airline and/or customer. This is a weekend only position for Saturdays and Sundays, part-time, for approximately 8 hours per day. The driver will load, unload, and transport cargo, maintain telephone contact with the dispatcher, complete necessary paperwork such as bill of ladings and MAWB’s, maintain driver logbook and daily vehicle inspection reports, and interact daily with customers.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Commercial driving experience preferred
• Must hold valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to operate a van with a capacity of 3,000 lbs
• Ability to operate handheld computer / cellular telephone.
• Time management, processing paperwork
• Must have basic knowledge of computers and email.
• The ability to operate handheld device used to communicate shipment information
• Must be able to operate and drive a van with a capacity of 3,000 lbs
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
• Must be able to climb into and out of tractor several times per day using 3 points of contact.
• Ability to lift over 50lbs at a time.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the trailer and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage.
• Must be able to work outside for short periods of time in all types of weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain telephone contact with dispatcher to receive instructions.
• Neatly complete bill of ladings and MAWB’s (Master Airway Bill) for airlines in order to tender freight.
• Maintain driver logbook and daily vehicle inspection report according to I.C.C regulations.
• Interact daily with customers.
• Operate a van with a capacity of 3,000 lbs.
• Operate handheld computer / cellular telephone.
• Process paperwork.
• Operate handheld device used to communicate shipment information.
