About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Air Quality Engineer to join their Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC) team in Tampa. This role is hybrid, involving time spent in an Arcadis office, working remotely, and visiting client sites. The ISC team is a rapidly growing and strategically important area for Arcadis, with significant investment. Their services encompass Air Quality Permitting and Compliance, Environmental Due Diligence, Environmental Compliance and Assurance, Safety Compliance and Assurance, Digital EHS&S, Industrial Hygiene, Sustainability, and Product Stewardship. The Project Air Quality Engineer will work with North American Air Quality and Noise Community of Practice Leaders to support the expanding air quality practice. This role serves as a key technical resource for air quality projects, including air permitting and compliance support, regulatory applicability and strategy development, emissions inventory development and reporting, engine and ozone-depleting substances compliance, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability reporting, and air dispersion modeling. As a Consultant, the individual will collaborate with staff, contribute to diverse projects, drive innovation, and build technical communities within the EHS space. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team, gain experience across various environmental projects and market sectors, and mentor existing staff while growing Air Quality Services with key clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Air Quality, with a strong background in air emission calculations and permitting
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related engineering field

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • EIT or PE registration
  • Experience with AERMOD dispersion modeling

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of air quality services for clients in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, chemical, transportation, and oil and gas.
  • Participate in other environmental compliance projects such as compliance auditing, waste management, stormwater permitting and SPCC plans.
  • Apply knowledge of Federal and State (with a focus on states in the Southeast) air quality regulations to air permitting and compliance projects.
  • Assist clients with permitting and routine air quality compliance reporting such as compliance certifications, emissions tracking, deviation reports, MACT reports and dispersion modeling.
  • Prepare air permit applications such as Permits-by-Rule, minor NSR, FESOP, Title V, PSD (and PSD avoidance), and Non-Attainment NSR (and NNSR Avoidance).
  • Collaborate with Arcadis’ air team leaders to ensure application of regulatory knowledge, analytical techniques, and excellent project delivery.
  • Perform emissions calculations for regulated air pollutants and greenhouse gases to be included in reporting such as emission inventories, Toxics Release Inventories and Tier II.
  • Support client and proposal development activities.
