About The Position

AMR Buffalo Fleet Repair Technician/Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in cars and trucks. This role involves using diagnostic tools, performing routine maintenance, repairing or replacing parts, testing vehicle functionality, documenting services, and communicating effectively with others about vehicle issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on repair or general maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A state inspector license.
  • Must have a full set of tools.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or certificate in automotive technology.
  • Industry credentials like ASE Certifications (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence).
  • Ford vehicle experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems in cars and trucks.
  • Use computerized scanners and tools to find engine, transmission, electrical, and steering problems.
  • Perform maintenance such as changing oil, rotating tires, replacing fluid levels, and servicing brakes.
  • Fix or replace worn, broken, or defective parts like pads, belts, sensors, and shocks.
  • Test drive vehicles or use specialized equipment to verify that repairs work correctly.
  • Record all parts used and services performed for shop logs and vehicle records.
  • Explain mechanical issues and repair options clearly.
