About The Position

At John Mini Distinctive Landscapes, we make places beautiful. For over 50 years, we have been recognized as a leader in indoor and outdoor landscaping, holiday design, and plant care. We design, install, and maintain distinctive landscapes throughout the tri-state area, including New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We're looking for a Safety & Fleet Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving our safety culture, overseeing our fleet operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping protect our most valuable assets—our people. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing safety programs, fleet operations, or a combination of both.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Experience administering fleet management systems, driver qualification programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with employees, managers, vendors, and external partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet, safety, or compliance management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification or other professional safety certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the company's safety programs, policies, and training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety by partnering with leaders across the organization to identify risks and implement practical solutions.
  • Manage the company's fleet program, including driver onboarding, vehicle assignments, compliance tracking, and fleet performance.
  • Monitor driver qualifications, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), telematics, and DOT compliance requirements.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, and safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Administer Workers' Compensation and automobile liability claims while coordinating return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct job site safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle registrations, inspections, repairs, and lifecycle planning.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, repair facilities, and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective fleet operations.
  • Prepare regulatory filings, compliance documentation, and executive reporting related to safety, fleet, and operational performance.
  • Provide guidance and support during fleet emergencies and safety-related incidents as needed.
