About The Position

Cascade East Transit is looking for a Fleet & Facilities Supervisor to be based in Bend, OR. This position will supervise and provide oversight and assistance to the Mechanics and Maintenance Service Worker team members in keeping all Cascades East Transit (CET) vehicles and facilities running at their optimal level. The role involves day-to-day operational and preventative maintenance for all transit-related CET vehicles and facilities, including transit hubs, bus stops, and shelters. It also includes oversight of buildings and contracted work related to transit facilities, supervising staff, prioritizing work and projects, and facilitating safety training for staff. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology plus three (3) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the required job duties
At least 1 year of management/supervisory experience required
Supervisory experience in managing employees’ work, production, scheduling, and performance and disciplinary review
Thorough knowledge of automotive mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, wheel chair lifts, automotive HVAC systems; price trends and grades or quality of materials and equipment
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to facility maintenance and repair activities
Working knowledge of facility HVAC, electrical, plumbing and irrigation systems
Working knowledge of OR-OSHA safety rules
Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools used in modern equipment maintenance
Basic knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools used in modern facility and landscape maintenance
Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow procedures to keep updated
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and safe work practices
Skill in operation of required tools and equipment
Ability to establish and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs, policies and procedures
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, vendors and the public
Ability to effectively coach, train, and support team members
Must pass a criminal background in accordance with COIC’s guidelines
Must pass and maintain acceptable driving/DMV record in accordance with COIC's guidelines
Valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle or equivalent means of transportation
Must successfully pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen
Work independently and effectively without close supervision
Effective verbal and written communication skill
Have strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
To work with and keep confidential sensitive personnel information

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a public transportation environment
Knowledge of OSHA safety rules a plus
Additional specialized training in facility maintenance management, or a closely related field
Must have valid Oregon CDL class B with air brakes restriction lifted in order to transport vehicles as needed. Completion of this requirement within introductory period will be considered.
Must have or attain a valid Oregon CDL class B with air brakes restriction lifted within 6 months of hire date as an essential function of the position

Responsibilities

Supervise staff including scheduling, assignment, and review of work
Assist Fleet & Facilities Manager in evaluation of staff performance, providing coaching and guidance to team, and participating in selection of new personnel
Build relationships with vendors, contract services, and internal partners to ensure efficient communication on aspects of fleet and facilities
Maintain shop area to ensure safety and cleanliness
Maintain written safety procedures and provide appropriate safety orientation and ongoing safety training for employees in accordance with OR-OSHA rules
Conduct monthly team safety meetings to include topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE) use and shop safety issues
Purchase equipment, parts, and supplies used for vehicle, mechanical system and facility maintenance
May assist Fleet & Facilities Manager in preparing cost estimates, budget proposals, and coordinating with contractors
Develop and maintain effective and harmonious and reasonable work relationships with others
Maintain regular and predictable work attendance in accordance with COIC policies
Perform other related duties as assigned
Plan, schedule, and prioritize break down repairs and preventive maintenance according to manufacturers specifications and CET schedules for all vehicles and mechanical equipment
Provide emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate
Repairing diesel and gasoline engines, electrical, fuel, air, hydraulic, transmission, heating and air conditioning systems, ignition, exhaust, axle assemblies, brakes and related systems
Inspect and repair wheelchair lifts
Check fluid levels and add or change fluids as necessary; lubricate the vehicle/equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and replace tires
Diagnose and repair electronic systems including, video equipment, electronic fare system, destination signs, automatic voice announcement system, and automatic passenger counter systems
Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
Weld, machine and fabricates parts
Test, service and repair vehicles and mechanical equipment
Conduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacement
Oversight of the planning and scheduling of vehicle cleaning to include interior and exterior, emptying trash and reporting all items needing repair
Maintain records of vehicle repairs including parts and labor
Maintain inventory of parts purchased; prepare reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment using computerized fleet maintenance software
Manage manufacturer recalls and warranty requirements
Oversight of facility maintenance duties such as bus stop and shelter cleaning, minor repairs or installation, removing trash, human and pet waste, and graffiti
Oversight of bus stop signs including installation and repair of damaged signage
Oversight of the planning and scheduling of snow removal at Transportation facilities and bus stops
Oversight and coordination of facility landscape contractor
Maintain records of facility inspections and repairs
