About The Position

Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking Flaggers in Irving, TX to join our team. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Duties include but are not limited to working as a Flagger, Roadway Worker In Charge, Lookout, a Sub-Group Coordinator, Station Ambassador, and other duties as assigned. Notifies proper authorities and prepares reports to explain accidents, unscheduled stops or delays. Comply with train orders, radio communications, and railroad rules and regulations to ensure the safe and efficient operation for track workers and trains traveling through work zones. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have an understanding of basic mathematics.
Must be able to work a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work, including being on-call 7 days a week.
Must possess good communication skills (verbally and written).
Must be able to judge speed/distances of objects/moving parts.
Required to make logical choices and/or drawing logical conclusions.
Complete annual training and pass safety operating rules examination.
Must pass all required assessments.
Required to take actions and/or making decisions affecting security/wellbeing of others.
Must have reliable transportation to go from field office to worksite.
Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Regularly lift weight up to 20 pounds up to a height of 36 inches.
Regularly carry weight up to 20 pounds for a distance up to 100 feet.
Regularly ascend/descend a truck step with a height up to 24 inches.
Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1/2 mile.
Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.
Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable safety and operating rules and federal regulations.
Promote safe work practices as well as maintains and fosters a safe work environment.
