About The Position

The Fixed Wing Pilot serves as Pilot in Command (PIC) for flights assigned in accordance with FAR Part 135. The PIC is responsible for the safe conduct of flights, is the final authority in aircraft operation, exercises Operational Control at the Tier 2 level described in the General Operations Manual, and supervises other assigned crew members during flight as required. The position is based in San Antonio, Texas, and operates a King Air 200. Pilots work a rotating schedule of seven days on followed by seven days off. During the on-duty period, pilots serve a 12-hour shift, with a maximum of 14 hours when operating under Part 135, at the base hangar to support a 30-minute launch following initial trip notification. Assignments are either day or night duty periods and are scheduled by the Base Lead Pilot the prior month. Pilots generally keep the same duty period during each seven-day assignment and rotate to another duty period for the next assignment. Duty-period changes within an assignment are discouraged but may occur based on local base needs. The annual salary range is $111,589–$122,748, with merit-based annual scaled increases up to $156,224.
