The Fixed Wing Pilot is responsible for safe and effective aircraft operations using established methods and procedures and in compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer's recommendations. This role involves critical thinking in preflight planning and aircraft operations, maintaining knowledge of aviation regulations, and effective communication with team members and patients. The pilot ensures the aircraft is clean and functioning appropriately, maintaining a safe environment. They evaluate transports, actively pursue professional development, and assist medical crewmembers with various duties. Specific leadership roles include Lead Pilot (managing satellite base functions and corrective actions), Instructor Pilot/Check Pilot (evaluating performance and training), Mentor Pilot (guiding Second-in-Command Pilots), and Safety Representative (monitoring safety issues and facilitating resolution).
