About The Position

The Fittings Machinist prepares parts for welding and fabrication. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
• Ability to read and understand measuring devices.
• Ability to operate a lift truck.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push or pull up to 70 pounds, and transfer 50–100 pounds with assistance from another person.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Good vision.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare machining operations.
• Select the best machining method to achieve the desired tolerance, speed, and finish.
• Perform calculations to form the work piece.
• Monitor machine feed rate and speed.
• Select tools and materials, plan cutting and finishing sequences, and mark work pieces to indicate cuts.
• Perform machining and grinding operations using equipment including a beveling machine, plasma torch, hand grinder, hand torch, chop saw, and pedestal grinder.
• Adapt to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
