About The Position

The Fittings Machinist prepares parts for welding and fabrication at Hose Master, a family-owned and operated manufacturer of flexible metal hose and metal bellows expansion joints. The role involves planning machining operations and selecting methods to meet required tolerances, speed, and finish. The machinist calculates how to form workpieces, monitors machine feed rate and speed, selects tools and materials, plans cutting and finishing sequences, and marks workpieces for cuts. The position also performs machining and grinding operations using equipment such as beveling machines, plasma torches, hand grinders, hand torches, chop saws, and pedestal grinders. The employee must be able to adapt to changes and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

The stated schedule is 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and the role requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. The work involves prolonged standing, use of hand and power tools, and physical handling of materials. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
• Ability to read and understand measuring devices.
• Ability to operate a lift truck.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push or pull up to 70 pounds, and transfer 50–100 pounds with another person's help.
• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Good vision.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare machining operations.
• Select the best machining method to achieve the desired tolerance, speed, and finish.
• Perform calculations to form the workpiece.
• Monitor machine feed rate and speed.
• Select tools and materials, plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations, and mark workpieces to indicate where cuts should be made.
• Perform machining and grinding operations using equipment including beveling machines, plasma torches, hand grinders, hand torches, chop saws, and pedestal grinders.
• Adapt productively to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
