As a Fitter/Welder I, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy production environment in the fabrication of stainless-steel car bodies for the best rail vehicles in the world. Requirements

  • High school education or GED
  • 1+ years MIG welding experience with emphasis on Stainless Steel or completion of accredited weld education program
  • General mechanical background
  • Basic English skills - ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certification for welding stainless steel using GMAW 3G vertical up and 4F overhead
  • Working knowledge of GTAW welding

Responsibilities

  • Perform stainless steel welding, fitting, tacking, and assembly of passenger rail car bodies and subassemblies using detailed drawings, jigs, fixtures, and advanced welding equipment.
  • Ensure all welds, assemblies, and finished products meet established welding standards, engineering specifications, dimensional tolerances, and quality requirements.
  • Inspect and repair fabrication defects as needed while maintaining exceptional workmanship and attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Safely operate welding, hand, and power tools while adhering to all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and maintaining a clean, compliant work environment.
  • Complete required work order and quality documentation, accurately track labor hours, and consistently meet production schedules, productivity goals, and budgeted labor targets with minimal supervision.
