About The Position

HealthFitness is hiring a Fitness Program Coordinator in Merrimack, NH. This role involves designing and delivering engaging fitness and recreation programs, fostering a welcoming atmosphere, and supporting a variety of fitness offerings. The position requires a blend of program creativity, hands-on fitness support, and engagement in a dynamic, participant-focused environment. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., with occasional shift flexibility and no weekends. This role offers additional income through personal training commissions, no sales quotas, and a diverse, hands-on role combining recreation programming with fitness floor support, group fitness, personal training, and front desk coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management or other fitness related discipline required or an equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications required from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Council or American Safety & Health Institute. Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA or other specialty certification; if not current, will be required within 3 months if hire.
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency; if not current, will be required within 1 year of hire.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in running leagues and creating tournament brackets required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated recreation, health and fitness programs and events, maximizing participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • May also participate in program delivery and perform other staff responsibilities such as instructing group exercise classes; personal training; conducting fitness tests, exercise prescriptions, and orientations; and fitness floor coverage and facility oversight.
  • Oversees all programming within recreation; develops, coordinates, manages, implements, and evaluates programs within specified program areas to maximize participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction and supervision of programs, services, and staff.
  • Ensures staff is properly trained and certified.
  • Facilitates the close alignment of programs with the client’s business needs, employee culture and corporate health strategies.
  • Coordinates marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; develops and distributes electronic and print promotional materials to communicate program offerings and special events.
  • Gathers program outcomes data and measures results; evaluates and reports on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and makes recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.
  • Researches health & fitness educational topics within their specified areas and identifies appropriate participant educational materials.
  • Participates in business planning and budgeting process relating to program and service offerings in their area of expertise.
  • Provides individual and group exercise instruction as applicable; educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
  • Promotes recreation and other fitness program offerings and conducts outreach activities to increase participation including designing flyers and posters for recreation league.
  • Creates and maintains league and tournament brackets.
  • Supervises recreation program and fitness facilities; interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participate safety.
  • Performs recreation maintenance responsibilities; ensure playing facilities and equipment are functional and always stocked.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.
